Deep Cove Yacht Club

Deep Cove Yacht Club

Port Metro Vancouver has approved an application for maintenance works, dock replacement and relocation, finger float replacement, and a minor expansion in the area available for transient moorage at the Deep Cove Yacht Club.

Works include:

  • Replacement of one 10.5 m (35 ft) section with a 21m (70 ft) section of A Dock (the east most float);
  • Relocation of A Dock by approximately 11m (36 ft) to deeper water, secured with several new anchors;
  • Replacement of 2 finger floats with longer fingers to accommodate larger boats;
  • Relocation of a portion of the “dinghy dock” located at the south west corner of the marina to deeper water adjacent to D Dock;
  • An extension to the south tips of B, C, and D docks;
  • A revision of the lease boundaries to accommodate all the proposed works.

The increased length of A Dock along with some new anchors, is deemed necessary for improved storm and wake protection. Moving this breakwater float to deeper water also allows for larger vessel berthing and better circulation of vessels between A and B Docks. Moving the dinghy dock to deeper water alleviates grounding concerns.

The total number of vessel slips for permanent moorage is not anticipated to increase. Two vessels that are currently moored outside of the outermost floats will be accommodated inside the outermost floats under the updated arrangement.

Approximately three additional transient moorage spaces will result from the increased length of A Dock and potential use of the outside of the outermost finger floats.
